Dear Mrs. Haggerty, May, 2016
This past year of taking Studio Art II has been a very memorable and not to mention a life changing experience. I wish I took art every year instead of just starting up this past year. Before I took this class I did not think that I was good enough to make anything “super artistic,” so being put into an AP/Art II class was definitely a challenge I am happy I decided to take head on. Having never taken a high school level art class, I know that I have grown and improved on my artistic technique. Being able to actually place what is in my mind on paper and learning how to do that has opened so many doors for me. Learning how to put all of my idea’s and thoughts down and a part of a creative and original canvas has helped me become a better and more creative person.
Another thing that really inspired me and helped me grow through this process was... BLOGGING! For one, I had always loved getting lost in a blog. I have every girls classic Tumblr page, but not my own blog that I frequently post my own works of art on. I love having something where I know I can go and pour my emotions and life into. The arts are something I know I can do that in. Being apart of this class had helped me grow in talent, in different methods and ways to create new things, in my photography, and in my imagination. It built my character higher than before. I have been inspired by every person I see and I now know how to pick out what is truly beautiful about them. Knowing now, what I didn’t before, has helped me see people for who they truly are because I am no longer just looking at outward appearance but at who that person is on the inside. And that is what is most important. Seeing someone for who they are, and not for who you want them to be. Building my imagination and creative eye in this class this year has made me see that. Made me see that you are only as strong as your weakest link. That quitting over one small mistake is only something that will hold you back from something that could really help you grow. Although you wouldn’t know that if you just threw the “big mistake” away. For all you know the mistake is what could’ve made your picture better. You taught me to “roll with the punches” or with my mistakes because it is part of life and if you try and throw your mistake away it is just like throwing your life away. One little mistake is not worth your entire life. All you can do is appreciate all of the beautiful things in life and not dwell on the bad but look forward into the future. So I look forward. To life after my school days are over. To finding my soulmate and spending every last second with him. To daily phone calls with my best friend to catch up. But most importantly I look forward to the beautiful life that God has given me and the ability to now put all of the beauty I see on paper.
Thank You Chaggs. And Thank You to all of the beautiful people I get to see everyday.
Yours Truly,
Gretta Hoglund
